We are a licensed facility designed to provide high-quality inclusive care. The centers focus on creating a “nurturing classroom” where children are treated with
the dignity and royalty, as reflected in our motto: To Care and Nurture.
Program Overview
The center operates two primary age-specific programs, both aimed at fostering cognitive, social, and emotional development:
Infant & Toddler Program (0–3 Years): This program focuses on building secure attachments and trust. The environment is structured to encourage speech, gross and fine motor movements, and early social skills through one-to-one interactions.
3–5 & School-Age Program: For older children, the center provides a more complex environment designed for “intellectual strides” It balances structured learning with emergent interests, preparing children for the transition to kindergarten.
The Philosophy in Action
At Kings and Queens, we pride ourselves in practicing the Reggio Emilia model of childcare. This isn’t just a label—it’s the heartbeat of the daily routine.it’s the heartbeat of the daily routine. The core belief is that children are not empty vessels to be filled with facts and fed with stories, but as capable, curious individuals who possess “a hundred languages” (painting, sculpting, drama, movement) to express themselves. The Environment as the “Third Teacher” Walking through the center, you’ll notice the environment is intentionally designed to be the “third teacher.” In line with Surrey’s “City of Parks” identity, the facility emphasizes environmental friendliness. The outdoor play areas and indoor spaces are filled with “provocations”—thoughtfully chosen materials like natural loose parts and educational toys that invite children to lead their own discovery.
A Collaborative Journey
The Reggio approach here extends to the community. The center acts as a hub for families, notably hosting gatherings for mothers who are new arrivals to Canada,
young mothers and working mothers alike. This creates a bridge between the home and the center, ensuring that the child’s learning is supported by a strong triangle of child, teacher, and parent.
”Our philosophy is rooted in the rich image of the child. We don’t just teach; we partner with our students as they navigate their world through their own unique abilities.” More than that, we encourage inclusivity not by words but deeds. Join us in this journey. Welcome!
